The Economic Development Corporation (EDC) serving Sanilac County is made possible through a partnership between the Huron County Economic Development Corporation and the County of Sanilac. The EDC provides economic development services to the industrial and commercial enterprises and the local units of government within Sanilac County to support their expansion, retention, and attraction activities.
Sanilac County is also part of a regional marketing effort through this partnership. By supporting these businesses and marketing the area, the EDC strives to develop, maintain and enhance the economic base and quality of life in Sanilac County. The EDC also acts as a catalyst for projects needing governmental support at the local, state, and national levels.

Thanks to funding from the Blight Elimination Program, and in partnership with the Sanilac County Land Bank Authority and Bolle Contracting, the two formerly vacant and deteriorated properties have been safely removed. These sites will now be transformed into expanded public parking, improving accessibility and supporting continued growth for Sandusky’s downtown district.
The Sanilac County Land Bank Authority is seeking proposals for hazardous materials surveys including lead, mold, radon, and asbestos on one residential property. The Sanilac County Land Bank Authority Blight Elimination Program is administered by the Economic Development Corporation of the County of Huron in partnership with the County of Sanilac. The property requiring hazardous materials testing is owned by the City of Brown City. This RFP is open to all qualified environmental contractors who are capable and qualified to meet the objectives and requirements described in this document. Respondents must supply documentation supporting their qualifications for evaluation.

Demolition efforts are officially underway in Sandusky this month as part of the ongoing work funded by the Blight Elimination Program grant awarded to the Sanilac County Land Bank Authority in 2023. Residents may have already noticed activity at the two Morse Street properties—24 S Morse Street and 36 S Morse Street—as Bolle Contracting begins the process of demolishing the properties and clearing the sites.
