  • Samantha Schnettler

    EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

    As the new Executive Director of the EDC serving both Huron & Sanilac counties, I am filled with excitement for the future of our organization. Following the success of my esteemed predecessors, I hope to continue the strong economic development leadership in our counties for our future generations. I look forward to a focused approach utilizing data and strategic planning in my decision making on our endeavors.

    During my time in the community I have served many volunteer and service organizations, from Chambers of Commerce to Rotary. I am currently serving as the Board Chair of the Huron County Community Foundation, a Rotary member of the Harbor Beach Rotary Club, a volunteer of the Harbor Beach Artist in Residence program, and a member of the Harbor Beach Zoning Board of Appeals. I am a member of the Michigan Economic Developers Association, I serve as the Board Chair of the Thumb Area Partnership, am a member of the I-69 Regional Steering Committee and the Region 6 Prosperity Planning Committee. My position with the EDC also includes providing executive direction to the Huron County Land Bank Authority and the Huron County Brownfield Authority.

    Prior to joining the EDC I was both a small business owner and served in an executive role in manufacturing. I live in Harbor Beach with my husband and our three Australian Shepherds.

  • Misty Schantz

    ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR

    Having grown up in Huron County, I am looking forward to helping our community grow. I am happy when I can help others find opportunities that might not be possible without assistance. I have served on the Huron County Relay for Life committee in the past, and I am currently the Head Coach for Special Olympics Bowling in our Area.

    Before joining the EDC, I previously used my experience in an office administration capacity in various ways and I am excited to see what we can accomplish for our county.

    I currently live in Huron County with my husband and fur babies, and I hope to live here the rest of my life.

Board of Directors

Bringing their time and talent to the table, the Huron EDC has ten representatives on its Board of Directors. The EDC strives to offer a voice from all communities and regions of Huron County. Especially important is  diverse and progressive business representation. Each Director has an area of expertise and an industry that they know well. By bringing their experiences, backgrounds and individual perspectives together,  this group can focus on the economic development of Huron County and the Thumb Area of Michigan.

  • Mary Babcock

    COMMUNICATIONS & COMMISSIONER DESIGNEE

    As a fourth generation Huron County native and resident from the Port Austin area, I worked as a CPA in the communications industry, and now I am retired. No stranger to change in telecommunications, just think about the evolution of your cell phone over the last 20 years. We have moved from bag phone to flip to smart phone in a very short span of time. I am glad to bring this communications perspective to the economic development interests in Huron County.. In 2019, I became a Huron County Commissioner.

    FINANCE

    My name is Debbie Cunningham, President of Northstar Bank. I have been a resident of Elkton for most of my life, and thoroughly enjoy all aspects of small town living. I have over 20 years of community banking experience and strive to make Huron County a better place by volunteering at many different community events and organizations. As an active board member of the Huron County EDC, I add strength from a financial business perspective.

  • Lynette Drake

    MANUFACTURING

    Born and raised in Huron County, I make my home in Ubly with my husband and two children. I am the President and Chairman of the Board of Gemini Group which owns and operates several manufacturing facilities in the area. I am also a board member for Northstar Bank which has multiple locations throughout the Thumb. I will use my business expertise to help further the economic development of Huron County.

  • Mike Eisengruber

    AGRIBUSINESS MARKETING

    I am President of BAMP Marketing & Consulting Inc, a dry bean marketing company located in Sebewaing, MI. We work directly with local dry bean farmers from the Thumb and surrounding areas. I bring to the Economic Development Board, an expertise in the agribusiness field and I help to represent the West side of the County. I really enjoy working with a very diverse group of individuals on the EDC board along with a great Executive Director and staff. We are continually challenged with growing and promoting the many wonderful aspects that Huron County has to offer, not only to our local residents but to the many visitors who travel to the Thumb area. I look forward to serving on this board and welcome your ideas to promote the valuable assets of Huron County.

  • Connie Koutouzos

    Medical

    I have been the President & CEO of the McLaren Thumb and Caro Region Hospitals since November, 2021.

    I am a Michigan Technological University graduate receiving a Master in Business Administration (MBA). I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing Administration (MSN) from Northern Michigan University.

    I bring over 35 years of health care experience in nursing and administration, serving most recently as the President and CEO of a community hospital in Northern Michigan. I am passionate about health care in the rural setting.

    I live in Huron County, residing in Ubly with her husband Andreas and Roscoe, a 12-year old miniature Yorkie. I have one adult child, Christina, who resides in Grand Rapids. In my free time I enjoy community involvement and downhill skiing.

  • Dr. Nancy Lubeski

    Education

    As a Huron County native, I returned home to serve as the Superintendent of the Huron Intermediate School District. I have been an educator for over 25 years in schools in Michigan and around the world. I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Tunisia and Fulbright Scholar in Malawi.

    I currently enjoy living in Port Austin and surrounding myself with family. I look forward to bringing my experiences to the EDC to positively influence the future of Huron County through the power of education and youth development.

  • Gary Osminski

    Civil Engineer & Agriculture Production

    I am a Huron County native and have resided in the Bad Axe area most of my life. I currently own and operate (since 1980) the family farm. My professional engineering career includes 40 years of working with cities, villages, townships, county, state and federal agencies as well as private developers. I owned and operated an engineering/surveying business in Bad Axe prior to 20 years with the Huron County Road Commission and retirement. I appreciate the opportuntiy to be a member of the EDC board and be innvolved in moving Huron County economic development forward.

  • John Shetler

    FEED MANUFACTURING & COMMODITY MERCHANDISER

    Since 1980, I have been part of the Active Feed Company's operations, which include Farm Crest Foods and Huron Gas LLC. A lifetime resident of Huron County. Currently representing Huron County in the private sector, on the regional GST MI Works Thumb Board. Being able to serve on the EDC board allows me an opportunity to share in the potential growth and economic development throughout Huron County.

  • Kevin Soper

    MANUFACTURING

    My manufacturing career has spanned nearly 20 years now, learning and growing at 5 different sites in 3 different states. Born in Huron County and raised in the Thumb, my family and I were able to return home when I accepted a position at the Corteva Agriscience site located in Harbor Beach in 2016. I now serve as the Site Leader for the facility, and am honored to serve the county through the EDC board.

  • Ron Wruble

    CITY DIRECTOR

    I am a lifelong resident of Harbor Beach and am glad to call this home. I enjoy coaching football and basketball for the Harbor Beach Pirates. It is great to see my kids and grandchildren make their roots here as well.

    I have a strong interest in the economic viability of our local and regional community. As the City Director and Parks & Recreation Director in Harbor Beach, I appreciate community spirit and initiative that has helped grow our community and bring placemaking to the forefront.
