Having worked in the Real Estate industry for 40 years, and also having been a resident of Huron County for a little longer than that, I have seen many changes, both in the real estate market, and our lakefront community of Port Austin.
Port Austin is a wonderful, thriving community, and tourists from all over the country visit us throughout the year, to enjoy Lake Huron. It is a community that offers many wholesome family activities, but also, it offers a respite from the daily rush and hubbub of city life. Many people come to us seeking to buy a lakefront cottage as a summer vacation retreat.
The market of lakefront properties is directly affected by the lake levels, which dropped quite low in past years; however, I am happy to report that we have recently seen the lake levels rise, and with it, the sales of lakefront properties, along with summer cottages!
Among some of the more upscale lakefront properties in the village are the lakefront condominiums, which offer access to Lake Huron.
We’ve also seen an increase in new commercial ventures, some of these being Bird Creek Farms, the PAK Back Yard, the construction of the Mermaid Cove, and the Village Square.
Overall, I believe I can safely say that there has been a very positive upward trend in real estate in our area, and I am very optimistic about the future.
